Volunteer Opportunities
Track Official: Track Officials are on the track during the races to monitor for infractions and/or crashes, watch the corners, and help riders if needed. Track Officials are also the eyes and ears on the track for inappropriate behavior and inform the Head Track Official who will take care of the issues. Volunteers can sign up for dates they would like to volunteer and are required from the start of racing till the end.
Concession/Cooking: Prepares and sells food/drink items. Volunteers can sign up for dates they would like to volunteer and Volunteers are needed about 15-20 minutes before sign-ups begin.
Stager: Stagers will be given Moto sheets and will be responsible for getting riders ready for their race, ensuring no riders are missing and they are lined up correctly in the right lane for the correct race. Staging Volunteers can sign up for dates they would like to volunteer and are required from the start of racing till the end.
Registration/Sign-Ups: Check Rider’s in. This position uses the Race Director’s laptop and should be confirming the racer’s plate number and calculated age, and make sure they are accounted for before the Race Director does final moto prep. Volunteers can sign up for dates they would like to volunteer and are required during the sign-up period but can also help facilitate race/post-race activities.
Announcer: Grab The Mic! Announcers broadcast the races, calls riders to staging, and updates spectators during the race. Volunteers can sign up for dates they would like to volunteer and are required from the start of racing till the end.
Scoring: Who won the race? Scoring officials are in charge of deciding who won each race and are responsible for assigning points to each rider. Scoring officials will get moto sheets from registration, and mark riders in the order they cross the finish line. This position is required from the start of racing until the end and Volunteers can sign up for dates they would like to volunteer.
Track Maintenance: Grab a shovel and play in the dirt! This is both during racing and on non-race days. Keep the track maintained during race/practice nights. Wets dust, rakes, fill divots, and ensures the track is left in a clean and tidy condition. Volunteers can also work with the Track Maintenance Director to help maintain the track during the week with needed repairs/improvements.
Gate Operator/Starter: Push the Button and start the race! The starter operates the device that calls the cadence to start the race. Volunteers are required from the start of practice to the end of racing and Volunteers can sign up for dates they would like to volunteer.
Event Planning: Let’s Do Something Fun! Event planners are in charge of scheduling at Pearland BMX. Help create schedules/facilitate clinics, competitions, parties, etc. If you plan it, they will come. Volunteers assist with organizing and facilitating events.
Marketing/Social Media: If the Event Team planned it, people need to know about it. Help communicate with the community, create videos, and post on social media. Help grow the sport and Pearland BMX.
Community Outreach: Get out in the community and show off the sport of BMX Racing. We are always looking for events to get involved with from local events to school events. These volunteers are the lifeblood of bringing new riders to the track.
